Okhlopkov may have shot more than a thousand Fascists, but he himself was wounded many times and nearly killed. While fighting near Minsk, he was badly wounded and left the battle before the war was finished. He had a very difficult time after the war due to his many wounds.

Red Army commanders paid little attention to the contributions of indigenous people from remote republics. Only 2 Yakuts eventually became Heroes of the Soviet Union. On the 20th Anniversary of the end of the war, Leonid Brezhnev made Fyodor Okhlopkov a Hero of the Soviet Union (N0. 10678).

In addition, he received the Order of Lenin, Order of the Red Banner, Order of the Patriotic War, Order of the Red Star, Medal for Merit in Combat, and Victory over Germany Medal.
