Created in 1847, the 32mm silver variant of the Naval General Service Medal (NGSM) depicts the Queen's bust wearing diadem (royal headband style) crown, hair tied back and the inscription, VICTORIA REGINA on the obverse. The reverse depicts Britannia seated on a seahorse, trident in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. TRAFALGAR in the exergue.
