Disciplined Services Long Service & Good Conduct Medal

The obverse of the 35mm circular cupro-nickel medal features a Cacique Crown circumscribed, ONE PEOPLE - ONE NATION - ONE DESTINY and GUYANA at the base. The reverse features a crossed prison warden's key, a fireman's axe and a policeman's truncheon circumscribed, FOR LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT. The Medal was instituted in 1970 following Guyana becoming a republic and is awarded to members of the Guyana Prison Service, Fire Service and Police Force upon completion of fifteen years of continuous full-time service and with no disciplinary issues for a period of twelve years. This example is suspended from the Fire Service ribbon.

Note on Disciplined Services: Each of the three disciplined service medals, those for police, fire & prison wardens, have a ribbon combination for each of the three awards specific to each service. To view the ribbons, see Antonio Prieto Barrio's site.
