The Ministry of the Navy awarded the 27 mm round medal (bronze, silver, vermeil or gold) engraved by G. Marey. The obverse depicts the effigy of the Phrygian capped and crowned Republic, surrounded by the inscription REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE. The reverse contained a rectangular cartouche, posed on an anchor and foliages and surrounded by inscription, MINISTERE DE LA MARINE (above) and DEVOUEMENT. EPIDEMIES (below).
