The Ministry of the Interior awarded the 27 mm round medal (bronze, silver, vermeil or gold) also engraved by Hubert Ponscarme. The obverse depicts the effigy of the winged Republic surrounded by the legend, REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE. The reverse contains a rectangular cartouche, surmounted on a caduceus and a palm, surrounded of the inscription MINISTERE DE L’INTERIEUR above and below the word EPIDEMIES.
