The Ministry of the Colonies awarded the 27 mm round medal (bronze, silver, vermeil or gold) also engraved by Hubert Ponscarme. The obverse depicts the effigy of the winged Republic surrounded by the legend, REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE. The reverse contained a rectangular cartouche, surmounted on a caduceus and a palm, surrounded of the inscription MINISTERE DES COLONIES above and below the word EPIDEMIES.
